About the Humane Society
HSBC, founded in 1944, is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization. Operating a 33,000-square-foot, air-conditioned open-admission shelter, HSBC cares for more than 300 animals at a time, placed 4,607 pets into homes in 2024, and supports its mission with the help of over 550 volunteers.
